Ruby Bridges is 68. This is not ancient history. Not even close.
I know Ruby. She’s a really nice person. The idea that they would try and write what she did as a girl out of history is shocking to me on so many levels, the simplest of which is just, but don’t they know how lovely she is?
so throughout spiderverse we see a lot of symbolism of the number ‘42’. it’s the number on the spider that bit miles, and it’s the number of the spider’s home dimension. there’s some of sneakily hidden 42’s around miles as well
this is drawn directly from the comics. although in the comics, miles’s spider isn’t from another dimension, it’s still labeled “42”. and it’s the lottery number that gets him into his school.
this isn’t just a random number either. the creator of miles, brian michael bendis, chose this number specifically because it was the number of jackie robinson, the first black major league baseball player… just like how miles was the first black spider-man
